The All New Ford Ranger 2011
Featured Vehicle
When the best Ford engineering minds from around the world were given the responsibility of creating the best Ranger ever, their brief was simple. No compromise. Not only did they have to deliver a Ranger model like no other, they also had to prove it had the toughness, endurance and versatility to take on some of the harshest terrains and climates across five continents.
“Wildtrak’s aggressive look and bold new graphics are a perfect fit for those who appreciate a sporty and more expressive image. It will look fantastic transporting the latest quad bike or jet ski for their weekend getaways,” – Craig Metros, Chief Designer of the all-new Ranger said.
Unsurpassed Water Wading
When it came to testing the suspension in the new Ranger, the Ford engineers chose one of the world’s most unforgiving environments: the Australian outback. What they didn’t factor into the already extreme conditions were the heaviest rains in 10 years. Luckily, with key engine components and air intakes positioned high under the bonnet, Ranger had no trouble tackling the swollen rivers and submerged tracks. With a water wading capability of up to 800mm*, All-New Ranger will be class leading.
“The Ford Ranger is one of those vehicles that is capable of tackling the worst off road conditions the average bloke has to deal with. And when scrubbed up, the Ford Ranger looks as good as a “Mills and Boon” millionaire sheik.” – Private Fleet.
* Water wading based on 4×4 models and 4×2 Hi-Rider.
Design That Delivers
The challenge for the Ford design team was function and form. How did they give the All-New Ranger a muscular, contemporary exterior, without compromising on fuel efficiency and a smoother ride? It meant putting the All-New Ranger through more than 1,000 full-vehicle aerodynamic simulations using the same leading-edge technology as Formula One teams… And we think that the Ranger’s new look and performance was worth it.
“With the One Ford strategy, we were able to deliver a truck with no compromise. The engineering team in Australia had full access to the global Ford capability, testing facilities and most importantly, corporate knowledge around delivery of Ford Tough Trucks.” – Jim Baumbick, Ford’s Asia Pacific and Africa engineering director.
Double Cab Legroom
All-New Ranger was designed with both driver and passenger comfort in mind. With more legroom in the second row, there will be no more complaints from passengers in the rear and no more knees pressing into the back of the front seats. Larger rear doors in the Double Cab model make it easier than ever for everyone to pile -in and out- fast.
* Double Cab models only.
“Surprisingly the Ranger offers an exceptional drive, plenty of features and impressive load carrying and towing capacities. An inspiring interior and stylish exterior help make the Ford Ranger a weekday work vehicle and weekday driver. Reasonable pricing and fantastic fuel consumption make the Ford Ranger a number one contender for budding tradesmen.” – Car Advice.
